The Story Behind Wilder Auto Body

Wilder Auto Body was founded by Kyle Wilder, a Clay Center native with a strong work ethic and deep local roots. Growing up around farming and small-town Kansas life shaped the way Kyle approached work from the beginning: do the job right, take care of people, and keep improving.

Kyle began learning the auto body trade in 1999 while attending auto body school in Manhattan, Kansas and working in a collision repair shop there. That early experience gave him a practical understanding of repair work, shop operations, and the attention to detail customers deserve when their vehicle has been damaged.

In November 2003, Kyle returned to Clay Center and opened Wilder Auto Body. What started as a small one-man operation has grown into a local repair team serving drivers throughout Clay Center, Palmer, Morganville, and nearby Kansas communities.

From the beginning, Wilder Auto Body has been focused on more than repairing vehicles. The goal has always been to help customers feel informed, supported, and confident after vehicle damage interrupts their day.

Most people do not come to an auto body shop because they planned to. They come because something happened: an accident, a dent, hail damage, paint damage, or a vehicle that no longer feels right. That is why clear communication matters.

Our team takes time to look at the damage, explain what we see, and help customers understand what needs to happen next.

How the Shop Has Grown

A Local Auto Body Shop Clay Center Drivers Can Trust

Wilder Auto Body grew from a one-man shop into a team of about 13 people. As the business grew, so did the commitment to better service, better workflow, and a better repair experience for customers.

After 14 years in the original building, Wilder Auto Body moved into a larger Clay Center facility in 2017. The shop has continued to grow, but the heart of the business has stayed the same: help people after vehicle damage, repair vehicles with care, and make the process easier to understand.

Every vehicle belongs to someone who depends on it for work, family, school, errands, and everyday life. When that vehicle is damaged, the repair process can feel stressful and unfamiliar.

Wilder Auto Body is here to make that process feel more manageable. Our team helps with auto body repair, collision repair, paint work, dent repair, hail damage repair, towing support, and other repair needs that come up after vehicle damage.

The work is technical, but the approach is simple: treat people right, communicate clearly, and take pride in the repair.
